Machine Knitting
Hi, I just joined this group and was wondering if there are any machine knitting groups in Toledo? I live about an hour south of Toledo, but I grew up there and it's easy to get back on weekends. I have been hoping to find a group here in NW Ohio.

I should really be working on a paper but I got off of work a few hours ago and thought that maybe somebody here would be interested.

I work at Hancock Fabrics in Sylvania, and if anyone is interested Jodi, my manager, who is an incredibly talented knitter and runs our yarn department is having a bunch of FREE! workshops and clinics.

There’s a felting workshop that starts at 7:00 pm on Wednesday November 9, and another one on Thursday, November 10 starting at 11am. Both last about an hour. I’m not sure if she has a specific project planned for this, or if she’s just explaining the technique or if you need any specific supplies. If I see her sometime this week I’ll be sure to ask her, and let people know. Even though the workshop is free, please call the store ahead of time to let her know how many people are coming! (419-885-3396)

The second workshop is for knitting with polar-fleece. Dates are Wednesday November 16 at 7pm, and November 17 at 11am. Again, the workshop lasts about an hour, and I will try to get back on what kind of projects she has planned or if any materials are needed, and also please call ahead to let her know if you are attending. (419-885-3396) The Workshops have now been moved back to sometime mid-january. Sorry!

She is also having a bunch of Saturday trouble shooting clinics to help you if you’re stuck on any current projects. You can drop by any time, dates and times are:

Oct 15, 4 -6 pm
Oct 29, 10am-12pm
Nov 12, 4 -6pm
Nov 26, 10-12pm
Dec 10, 4-6pm
Dec 24, 10-12pm

The store is on Monroe Street, in the Starlight Plaza, near the intersection of Monroe and Corey:

5700 Monroe Street
Sylvania, OH 43560
Tel: 419-885-3396

I don’t mean this to be some shameless promotion of my employer, Jodi really is fantastic, and all the workshops are free.

Sooo last night I heard through the grapevine that there's an anual knitting convention in Toledo. This year it's happening November 10-13 at the Radisson Hotel.

Check it out!

I hope to see people there!

Free yarn, anyone?
*clears throat* May I have your attention please? In freestuff there was an offer I thought we'd all be interested in! FREE YARN! (. . . 'cause y'know, who DOESN'T need more yarn ;-) "To receive your free ball of Bernat Disco" go here :-D

I checked out the terms and conditions, and nothing fishy. One per house and name, requests have to be made by 1/1/06, no P.O. boxes, 6-8 weeks for delivery (sucks :-P).

It's kind of presuming that everyone crochets primarily and knitting is a secondary thing, but. . . oh well. It's yarn!

There will be a peaceful knitters meet-up at Down Town Latte on Wednesday May 18 at 7:00 pm. If you are part of the meet-up group please RSVP.

Also our organizer is stepping down, and our meet-up group will be nil pretty soon, because the meet-up website has decided to be stupid and start charging a fee. We would still like to keep the group going so if you want to be emailed notifications for the meetings leave a comment here with your email address and I can foward that to Kimberly Danes. You can also get her email address off of the boards at the meet-up site if you wish.

I'll screen the comments so your email address won't be seen publicly

This is your captain speaking...
Just to let everyone know...

I am still alive, and I do want to put some more work into this community: make a nice backround, icon, make up some topics so we become more active etc...I am just unable to at the moment because I am swamped with school right now. I have a great idea for an icon too...urg.

toledo_native and I are are moderators, if anyone else is interested in being one let me know because I'm pretty much open to whatever people want to do with this community.
